Jim, I too feel that the fiber type ligatures take out too many of the high frequencies, leaving what I feel is a dead tone. I personally prefer a more "brilliant" tone, figuring I can always darken it down with reed or embouchure when needed.

Right now I'm using a Bay Rhodium plated ligature. I have Peter Spriggs ligatures on order, though, for bass and Bb.
