Material the clarinet is made of is completely irrelevant in this
case. Did your mouthpiece fit tightly in the barrel? I suppose it is
POSSIBLE that the barrel itself was defective and had a loose, rattling
part. But since the clarinet itself was borrowed, a more likely
explanation is that there was something wrong with IT or a problem between
IT and your setup that was causing your problem and the barrel had little
or nothing to do with it.
