Avrahm Galper's Tone, Technique, and Staccato book published by Mel Bay is
great for the development as well as the Hite Melodious & Progressive
Studies book 1 and 2 followed by the Artistic Studies.

I never used the Klose book as I didn't like it. Nor do I use the Rubank
book (boring).
May not be the most standard fare but has worked tremendously well for me
and my students. I also use the Kroepsch book 1 (Klose has 2) for technique.

I've been informed by the local music store (and verified on Pepper's
website) that the Klose Celebrated Method for Clarinet is now permanently
out of print. I've been using it for years with my high school intermediate
and up students.

But the problem: Obviously, I use other books, as well, but have always
considered the Klose to be the "grounding" book, because it coveres so much
in so many different ways. Almost any problem a student is having, there's
something in the Klose to work on to correct the problem.

What do any of you recommend as a general comprehensive manual to take the
place of the Klose? (Or does anyone plan to take over publication of the
current edition?

All suggestions appreciated!

Jim Hobby
