I've noticed several times over the last few years discussions about
problems with the fingers/hand/arms. These have, I think, all had their
source of problem in the spot where the problem is.

I've popped up with a new one. The problem is somewhere in the cervical
spine but one of the problems from it is my left hand. Thumb & #3-4 fingers
don'tt always do what I tell it to. The middle finger is rarely effected
and the index finger only occasionally. The fiingers tend to close toward
the palm, making alignment difficult at times. At rest, the fingers sort of
quiver.

Not only does this make for spastic playing, my "real" job is criminal court
reporter -- no, I'm not the criminal. My writing on the shorthand maching
and the typewriter keyboard have been bunged up, as well. I dread the
thought of a request for a read-back in case the fingers have gone their own
ways.

I had a MRI 10 days ago and a rather painful cervical myelogram and CT scan
yesterday, and the neurosurgeon is supposed to call me to tell me how to fix
the problem. (I have a feeling I know what the solution is going to be.

(And yes, I've tried MDs, chiropractors, physical therapists, draconian
stretching devices, creams, pills. Everything except accupuncture. Nothing
helps for longer than a very short time.)

Any suggestions? (Good wishes appreciated.)

Jim Hobby
