How long ago were you here? Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949, and
there is still a substantial contingent that think it was a bad idea,
and that we should secede now... I don't think they'll ever get their
way.

We'd be happy to share, I assure you. Watching the snow it's a wonder
any of it ever hits the ground. Same with rain - I can remember in
the house we rented when we first moved here, sitting at a
third-floor window, watching the wind blow rain up-hill up the
street, then pick it up and hurl it at the window... It's also one
reason there aren't more problems with the flat roofs here- very
little snow actually accumulates on most of them.

Yes, there's a fairly thorough discussion of that, starting with the
199 bars of surviving manuscript.

Guess I should go start the first round of shovelling...
