I'm writing to tell you about a very good quartet for a slightly unusual
combination of instruments: flute, clarinet, viola, and cello. The
composer is Seattle pianist and composer Janet Anderson. I have performed
this work three times during the past two months. It's a pleasure to play,
and the audiences have loved it. Composed in 2002, it has four movements
and a duration of about 14 minutes.

The writing is straightforward, with no extended techniques required. Each
of the four instruments has moments in the spotlight. The instrumentalists
must be skilled, but this is not a virtuosic showpiece. The emphasis is
definitely on the ensemble.

If you have this combination of players, Janet Anderson's _Quartet_ is worth
programming.

Janet will send you score and parts if you pay for photocopying and mailing.
