Subj: [kl] spam [was Bill]

Geez. It went by me - lots to do offline these days - that Bill had
said Bye. That Bill should say Bye is a Bummer. Says I. The reason
obviously escaped me as well. I too have had a dramatic increase of
Spam recently. Until now I've just deleted it w/o reading, but I'm
considering SpamCop again. Does anyone on-List have recent input about
the current effectiveness of SpamCop? Many of my spam messages
incorporate my e-mail user name in the sender name (freeporn
acb@-----.
So the e-mail address - and even the server - is exclusive to mail
sent to me (or so I suppose). I don't know how the SpamCops of the
world handle that.

BTW, a couple of colleagues the school where I teach (students are 6 -
20 years old) told me just today that they were confronted with Bill
'n' Monica-type porn photos when merely opening their Webmail sites!
The photos just popped up on the screen when they accessed the Webmail
site; there was no actual mail involved! This is no joke when the
computers involved happen to be stationed where the aforementioned 6 -
20-year-olds can see the screen. You have to have the reflexes of an
Olympic fencer to jump forward and hide the contents of the screen
when the kids (or, God help us all, their parents) are filing past for
their lessons and rehearsals ...

And we thought that lack of practicing was the primary problem we had
to deal with ?

Ciao,
Anna
