Subj: [kl] Advice needed on crack in a Malerne
Date: Sun, 19 Jan 2003 10:54:39 -0500

Hello group,

I have a Malerne clarinet that I purchased back in the
1970s. It
appears to have a crack on the upper section starting
at the alternate C
trill key and is heading down to the hole on the A
flat key.

The crack has been there for many years and does not
appear to have
penetrated to the inside. Also, it does not seem to
affect the clarinet.
Should I get it fixed? And is there a point if the
crack has not gone
all the way through? Can it actually be fixed when it
happens at this
spot in the instrument?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
