For many years I played on #5 Plasticover reeds (Rico) and they worked
wonderfully for me, until I met Jon Manasse and realized that I wanted
to sound more like him. I don't play Vandorens currently having found
them to be too inconsistent for me. I play Gonzalez #3 1/4 here in
Colorado. I would probably play #3 1/2 at sea level. I do keep my Legere
reed in my case for outdoor gigs and emergencies. When I don't have a
good reed to play on, I use the Legere. I will probably buy one for my
Alto Sax, being that I don't play it very much, but when we do have a
gig, I need instant response. I still have an old Plasticover on the
Alto Sax. ANNIE
