Rebecca, practice going from your throat G to your Clarion C very
slowly, over and over, keeping your right hand down, including your
right C pinkie. I sometimes call it the "Ambulance Game", because going
from G to C over and over again sounds a little bit like an ambulance. I
have been known to make my students play G to C 20 or more times slowly
during the lesson, to get a nice beautiful smooth connection. When you
get ready to try the passage again, slowly, remember to put your right
hand down when you strike throat G the second time. You could even put
it down when you hit the throat A. It may seem a bit awkward and it may
seem to defeat the purpose of trying to play the passage smoothly, but
it will work. It takes a while to get good connections over the break.
I'm sure that the members on this list will have many suggestions
for this passage that differ from mine. ANNIE
