I know I'm a little late jumping on the screw staying in place bandwagon,
but...I have my own 'problem' I guess you could say.
I own several Selmer clarinets, but the one I play on the most is my Omega.
Recently, (I'd say within the past 6 months), when I play for any length of
time, the Ab2 key's screw (you know, top left hand [do these keys have
special names that I've just never been taught??]) will wiggle it's way down
so that the key is raised, and air leaks out. When this happens...I can't
play. Anything. I took my clarinet to a music store, and the technician
argued that it's not possible for the screw to do that. But I insisted, so
he put some fingernail polish on the screw to hold it in place. (Yes, I
know, I could've done that.) Has anyone else had this problem? If so, is
it just that the screw is stripped? Or is this a common thing with
clarinets? Thanks.
-Amanda
