The part I played years ago had the slow movement on A clarinet, which of =
course, needs to be warmed up before the big solo at the start of the slow =
movement....1st and last movements are on B-flat clarinet.

Greetings all - happy new year etc. from a long-time lurker and=20
occasional participant...

I've just been handed a part for Rachmaninov Piano Concerto 2, we're=20
playing the slow movement on a big pops mish-mash concert next week.=20
The part is all on B-flat, but there's also a photocopy from the=20
Bonade book of the A transposition which makes far more sense=20
"clarinetistically". Does "everybody" play this on A clarinet? Is=20
there any compelling evidence of Rachmaninoff's intentions one way or=20
the other?
