Hi Klarinetters,

For those who might be in the area next week, I’m
doing a free noon-hour recital on Thursday, January 16
at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music (the
Edward Johnson Building next to the Royal Ontario
Museum, behind the Planetarium). It’s called
“Journeys”
as I will be moving between clarinet, bass clarinet
and
alto saxophone to explore some Bach, Japanese and
Finnish-inspired music, jazz, electro-acoustic
transformations and even a little Balkan discotheque!
Please feel free to stop by, it’s in Walter Hall on
the
lower level, 12:10-1pm.

Program:
*Béla Kovács: Hommage a Bach (1994)...for Solo
Clarinet
*Tauno Marttinen (b.1912): An Old Mill Tells Its Tale
Op.143...for solo
Bass Clarinet
*Alcides Lanza (b.1929): ektenes III (1995)...for
Clarinet, Electronics and Tape
*Ryo Noda (b.1948): Improvisation I (1972)...for solo
Alto Saxophone
*David Eastmond (b.1981): Affirmation and Ballade
(2002)...for solo Clarinet
*Eric Dolphy (1928-1964): God Bless the Child
(1961)...for solo Bass Clarinet
*Nikola Resanovic (b.1955): Alt-Music Ballistix
(1995)...for Clarinet and Tape

And many thanks to list member Floyd Williams of
Australia for the copy of the Dolphy. Unbelievable
piece.
