I recently purchased an S100GG Unison soprano saxophone and find it to
be everything Steve Goodson, a reputable and well-known professional sax
player and technician in New Orleans, LA (www.saxgourmet.com), says it
is: Double detatchable gold plated necks (straight and curved); keywork
to high G; bell beautifully hand engraved; blued needle springs;
premium pads and resonators; power forged keywork; adjustable metal
thumbhook; adjusting screws for D,E,F, G, & B, and "I am very proud to
be associated with Unison Saxophones as a dealer; endorser; and design
consultant. I believe them to be the very finest instruments available
anywhere at any price. EACH AND EVERY UNISON SAXOPHONE SOLD BY MY SHOP
IS PERSONALLY INSPECTED, REGULATED, AND APPROVED BY ME. An additional
one year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials is
included on all Unison saxophones sold by Steve Goodson Woodwinds LLC."

My first soprano fell in the oft declaimed Chinese junk (not a boat)
category and I was very upset that I bought it (eBay). But, my Unison
S100 is leagues ahead in quality, tone, feel, snappy key action and
great looks. I also have a Selmer AS100 (USA) alto sax that I consider
to be comparable in quality to the Unison S100. But don't take my word
for it, take a look at Goodson's website and see for yourself. Better
yet, see if your favorite dealer carries this line and give one a try. I
am not financially connected with Unison, nor have any other incentive
for sharing this opinion other than sincerely believing the Unison
saxophone is one of the best kept secrets, unfortunately, in the
industry today. One other thing, they are affordable. The top of the
line S100 soprano lists for US$1800 and Steve sells them for US$1600. I
was lucky enough to find a local (SoCal) instrument technician who sold
me mine for $950, and it was brand new.

To get back to the main topic, I also have a Selmer Signet Special
clarinet, but sax is my primary instrument.
