I.C.A. Grant Applications

Application Guidelines

The I.C.A. has budgeted a total maximum of $2,500 (U.S.) for grants to be
used from September 1, 2003 through August 31, 2004. Grants should
support projects in performance, pedagogy, and/or research pertaining to
the clarinet. Although existing or ongoing projects may be considered,
priority will be given to "newer" projects that may serve a broader
audience of clarinetists from amateur, student, and professional levels.

The following guidelines should be observed for eligibility and
application procedures:

1. Send a written proposal to the President of the I.C.A., Robert
Walzel, School of Music - University of Utah, 1375 E. Presidents Circle -
204 DGH, Salt Lake City, UT 84112-0030. Included should be a general
description of the project, the projected length of time for completion,
evidence for its success, contributions to the art of the clarinet and the
profession-at-large, and the amount of money requested. An itemized total
budget projection for the project should be included.

2. Applications should be postmarked no later than July 1, 2003.
Only applications by current I.C.A. members will be accepted.

3. An I.C.A.-appointed Grants Committee will review proposals, and
decisions will be confirmed no later than August 15, 2003. The maximum
award will be $1,000 (U.S.) per grant. The decision of the Grants
Committee will be final.

4. Grants will not be awarded to previous recipients in consecutive
years.

5. A complete, written report, preferably with photographs where
applicable, should be submitted to the I.C.A. journal editor, James
Gillespie, for publication in The Clarinet (subject to editing).

6. It is expected that the following statement will be included in
the program and advertisements, where applicable: "This event is made
possible in part by a grant from the International Clarinet Association."

7. Grants will not be awarded for events in which a current I.C.A.
Board member or Grants Committee member is a participant.
