Would "showing off" would be a problem? (isn't that the whole point? :-)

However, if you have a good accompanist you might consider doing a movement
of a sonata or something else that isn't just a reduction of a piece for
clarinet and orchestra. I had a lot of success with that is high school:
Hertig, Poulanc; stuff like that. Pieces like that often have movements
that are less than 5 minutes (although I don't think we had that time limit
when I was doing S&E...) and they let you do some nice ensemble playing.
Also, those are pieces that they don't hear every day - especially from high
school students.

I had an opportunity to play with the local community orchestra when I was a
senior in high school and did the Weber Concertino. I've always sort of
regretted it. It was a big hit with the audience, but it reminds me of an
etude.
