One final comment and then I'll drop the thread (thankfully!):

I checked my big Langenscheidt Germany Wortbuch and found that the word
"statt" is listed, and means "place", i.e. in place of, to place, a place.
An example is Kinderstatt (child adoption.... to place a child). So,
logically, a Kegelstatt would be a place to bowl. Probably, with the
passing of time, Kegelstatt was corrupted to Kegelstadt, like angle horn was
corrupted to English horn. So.... Neil, you are correct, in that sense. As
far as the sheep analogy, well........ the Germans have been known to be
very sheep-like, politically. Hmmmm?

Did Mozart actually title the trio? I thought that a publisher might have
added it. Curious... time to dig out the reference books, starting with the
Einstein biography.
