Bill, you can download software to stomp on this sort of thing.

Ad-aware is the one I use.

Subject: [kl] How it happens

I changed my email address 10 days ago. As a matter of discipline, I
have used this particular name **only** to read and post on Klarinet,
and to do Google searches related to clarinet.

Because of our conversation about clarinet choirs, I did some Google
searches a couple of nights ago for clarinet choirs. Several of the
hits were Japanese sites, which normally I wouldn't visit because I
don't speak Japanese, but since a couple of them had web pages in
English....

I did not post a single message nor download a single file nor play a
single sample. I merely looked at the pages that came up on my Google
searches.

Yet today, I received a spam from one of the sites that I visited.

I suppose this is accomplished by cookies. There's no other reasonable
way, is there?

Grumpily,
Bill
