I feel that the synthetic reed will become more dominate the clarinet reed
market as synthetic materials are easily control to create an uniform product.
All the natural reeds vary from one another and there is little, if anything,
that can be done to control natural reed consistency.

To the best of my knowledge there are only three truly synthetic reeds on the
market. These are the Legere, Bari, and Woodwind. The other "plastic" reeds
are cain treated with a synthetic material.

I have all three of these and each are slightly different from each other. I
use #3 or medium strengths and have yet to come to any conclusion as I have
only been using these three for about 6 weeks.

The Bari and Woodwind are very inexpensive and are available from Woodwind and
Brasswind in South Bend, Indiana. Legere is not inexpensive but will probably
survive longer that any natural cain.
