FWIW, I've also found some small level of resistance with a resulting slight
feeling of instability) that I find uncomfortable in all of the VanDoren M
series mouthpieces that I've tried unless I use a reed that is otherwise
impossibly weak. I don't know what the reason is. I've had reluctantly to
abandon them as well, although I very much like many facets of the way they
play.

But to P. Wagner, I'd strongly recommend that you let someone knowledgeable
hear you and try your equipment in person to see what may be an equipment
problem and what is rooted in your own physical approach to playing.
