Rebecca--

You came to a wise decision not to change mouthpieces prior to an audition.
It takes time to adjust to any new mouthpiece, and your audition will be
stressful enough without having the worry of a new set-up.

I found reeds that I like with my VanDoren B45 mouthpiece now. The director
of the army band in morgantown came in and worked with me and my clarinet
friend on all-state stuff and he gave me a VanDoren V12 3 1/2 reed. I was
told my a music dealer not to use V12s on a B45. I guess that was his
opinion becasue I think I get a very good tone. Eventually I will change
mouthpieces, but until all-state is over, I believe it would be wise to
stick with what I am used to.

Last year, the day the all-state rehersals started I switched from a Selmer
C* mouthpiece to a VanDoren 5RV. The selmer broke and I had the 5RV in at
the store, so I really had no choice. It wasn't the easiest rehersal...
