Sorry that this response is somewhat belated. I have an interesting CD
called "Welcome Home: A Colletion of American Works for Clarinet and
Piano" recorded by Marcus Eley (clarinet) and Lucerne DeSa (piano). My
impression is that several of the pieces on the CD are by African
American composers, but I'm not sure (except, that is, for Eley's
arrangement of Harry Thacker Burleigh's "Deep River". The other pieces
on the CD are "Blues and Dance" by John Elwood Price, "Sonata for
Clarinet (orig. Alto Sax) and Piano" by Oliver Edward Nelson, "Sonata
for Clarinet and Piano" by Thom Ritter George, "Sonata for Clarinet and
Piano" by Alec Wilder (Alexander Lafayette Chew), , and "Sonata for
Clarinet and Piano" by David Nathaniel Baker.

The CD liner notes said that Eley is a graduate of Indiana University,
an artist/clinician for Buffet-Crampon, and a marketing specialist for
Rico International, so those organizations might be able to help put you
in touch with him if you wanted to learn more about these composers or
others. The notes also say that he has given lecture/performances on
African American contributions to American music, so he should be a good
resource on this topic.

Nancy
