Several years ago Bruce Edward of Ensemble Clarinesque (in Germany) decided
to buy a Buffet basset horn because a new German system one would cost him
$10,000 US. He was willing to put up with using two different fingering
systems on his clarinets in order to save at least $4,000.

I believe he was playing the Buffet in their performance at the
ClarinetFest in New Orleans.
