I have been playing the Gonzales reeds since I was introduced to them at
clarinet fest 2001 in New Orleans. I was using Vandoren V-12 and sometimes
Legere Reeds. I find that the Gonzales have to played in over a period of
time carefully in short and gradually expanded playing periods, but once
this is properly done they last quite some time. I play them in a rotation
of 4 reeds with a second set of 4 ready to play, and have very few in a box
that are not balanced and ready to play in out of the box. Those few
generally can be adjusted. That has not been my experience with other
reeds. I have been buying direct from the importer DaviesCane, however I
think they are being handled by several other online stores now. I think
the Legere Reed is Great for certain applications, but personally I preffer
cane for concert and solowork.
