No. Probably not. Using a polishing cloth shouldn't really ruin things
normally. Just be careful not to overdo it. Some silverplate seems to be
harder than others. In this case I was surprised at the swirl marks left
after just one use of the polishing cloth I bought in the store. In fact, I
got irate about it, but it's water over the dam, or under the bridge, or
whatever.
