Subj: [kl] playing music written for another instrument
Date: Wed, 4 Dec 2002 07:37:13 -0500

Hello all,

Yesterday I started working on Sonata in c minor from Methodische Sonaten
written by Georg Philipp Telemann. I don't think the clarinet was invented
then, was it? Does anybody know what instrument this was written for?

The reason I ask is back in August or September when I first subscribed to
the list there was a discussion going on about playing music that was
written for another instrument. I can't really remember much about it except
that I got the impression that some of you were against it.
I was wondering if it would be wise to use it for my all-state audition
because I am kind of scared the judge will be too.
