<><> Someone asked me why I wrote for bass and contrabass in a piece
about moths.

I see a host of multi-colored butterflies in the late afternoon sun....
one of the delicate creatures has just alighted on my windowsill, and it
tells me that butterflies are more beautiful than moths, and butterflies
hunger for musical recognition too

Oh No! Now the sun is gone and bats are emerging from the nearby cave!
I can see their dreaded wingshapes silhouetted against the silver
waterfall. Where have all the colors gone?!

.....I think those bats are hungry....

[there's a musical assignment with real need for contrabass]

Cheers,
Bill
