Or why use consonants when we speak? Just pronounce the vowels.

Articulation between notes that are not specifically meant to be slurred is
absolutely critical to the music. The tongue is the primary way to do
that. Otherwise the music will be no more intelligible than your speech
would be if you followed my "advice" above.
