I had the pleasure of spending some time with Powell and his wife, Janet
and their newborn baby, David along with Tony Wakefield and his wife,
Pam. We played clarinet trios in Powell's room at the Anne Boleyn Hotel
in London right before I went to Stockholm last summer.
Anyhow, Powell is one of the most humble clarinetists on earth. I
am not surprized that he says that he was not really trying to play
fast, but actually trying to sound like a bumble bee. However, Powell
does like to go fast. He has confessed to me that he likes to drive fast
cars. Reading these posts is making me anxious to go back to London for
another visit.
Tony, are you out there? How is your mouth feeling with the new
crowns? Have you tried to play clarinet yet? ANNIE
