Rien -

I repeat - This is not a political list, so keep your political opinions to
yourself, thank you.

Some pieces of music I use to describe as "cold". Some of these are, in
Dutch, "lekker koud", agreeably cold, some are not. Among those "lekker
koud", agreeably cold, I would like to count Bartok's music for strings,
percussion and celesta, some (but not much) of Richard Strauss's music, and
Hindemith's clarinet sonata. Among those "niet lekker koud", not agreeably
cold, I would like to count much of the 20th-century music of the sixties
and seventies (too brainy, too much acrobatics), but also Hindemith's
concerto for clarinet.

Certainly Dan will ask me now how I define "lekker koud" or "niet lekker
koud". I agree: I do not define them, I simply describe feelings I also have
when reading certains poems, standing in front of certain pictures, or
diving into a swimming pool. And to be somewhat more specific: when hearing
Mr President Bush, he always makes me feel "niet lekker koud", I get the
chills, especially when he speaks out his irreconcilable, warladen feelings
about Iraque (however much I agree with him about the wickednes of that man
Hussayn).

Sorry, didn't want to start another politcal discussion on this list.
