Subj: [kl] Introduction and Announcements for Klarinet

Hi, everyone. I've been on the list for about a year and a half, maybe
two. I figure it's time to introduce myself. My name is Umesh and I'm a
clarinetist (I feel like I'm at an AA meeting). I'm currently in the Ph.
D. program in Computer Science at UC Berkeley, and I play in the UCB
Symphony as well as in occasional chamber concerts.

So as to make my first post not completely useless to people, here are a
couple things for the list:

I've made some homegrown recordings of stuff and although the playing and
recording isn't always amazing, it's free for your taking. Visit
http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~ushankar/recordings/
and download away. Comments and questions welcome.

This Friday and Saturday (11/22 and 11/23) the UC Berkeley Symphony will
be playing a program with the unusual pairing of The Rite of Spring and
Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10. Both concerts are at 8pm at Hertz Hall on
campus (it's near the intersection of College and Bancroft). Tickets are
$2 for students and something like $6 for everyone else. I'd love to see
some of you there.

I also have recordings of the UCB Symphony doing Brahms 4 and Shostakovich
8 (with yours truly playing principal)--if you want a copy of these let me
know.
