Last April I bought a Selmer 62 alto saxophone from a store in the
Netherlands. I live in Illinois. The cost of the instrument alone was
$2450 plus shipping charges. It was shipped UPS. I had to pay the UPS
driver the additional customs charges when he delivered my sax. The
shipping/delivery couldn't have gone any smoother. Good luck!

Subject: [kl] Instruments from outside the US.

I just bought about $3000 dollars worth of musical instruments from a
shop in England. (I'm in the U.S.) Does anyone have any experience
purchasing from overseas? In particular has anybody had to use a
customs broker? According to the U.S. Customs web-site. Items over
$2000 in value are held at customs and the receiver has to jump through
a number of bureaucratic hoops to pay duty and get the items released.
I'm hoping that in practice most items go through anyway. This hasn't
happened to me yet, I'm just afraid it will.

TIA

Britt
