This post is *NOT* for the sake of conversation.
===============
I feel that my daughter, who teaches, needs to have a broader view
(nationwide and worldwide) of what private teachers are paid for their
lessons and whether giving lessons in the student's home is 'part of the
business'.
[ For my daughter's sake, I want her to be aware that this email group
includes a wide assortment of teachers, ranging from world-renowned
performers who teach to college music professors to "the lady or man
next door" to <gasp!> a grandmother who plays in motorcycle bars. ]
I hope that many of you will either post or email to me off-list a short
statement (only two or three sentences):
(1) What charge is reasonable in your area for less than "music
conservatory level" lessons
(b) Whether, and for what fee, you would travel to a student's home
(c) What you think is a reasonable policy if the student's parent asks
for scheduling changes
I hope that it's obvious that I will be sending all replies (including a
copy of this post) in a packet to my daughter. I believe I know what
most of you will say, but I want her to hear it from other people's
mouths.
Thank you, sincerely,
Bill
