Here is my 2 cents worth: In trying to describe the perfect sound of the
clarinet-why not relate it to something the kids already know -like
textures and colors. One of my clarinet teachers always said that the
sound of the clarinet should be: burgundy velvet. Doesn't that sound
just right- the perfect dark rich sound.
