That's not funny! I belong to the First Company Governor's Foot Guard
band in Hartford, CT. The Foot Guard and the Horse Guard have been
"guarding" the governors of Connecticut from attack since colonial
times when it was not safe to be a colonist, especially a governor.

Now we're strictly ceremonial. So they don't ship us off anywhere.
I'm 61 so that would be interesting! A 2 mile parade is enough.

Since we were formed in 1771, we wear uniforms based on the British
Coldstream Guards - red coats, buff pants, black leggings, pouch,
and topped off with a busby with real bear fur (fun when my daughter's
pit bull comes to visit!)

So, yes, I wear a red coat, walk in a straight line down the center
of the street, and I do carry a black clarinet (Yamaha-the R13 stays
home until concert season)!
