I doubt this was a case of caring for Rebecca's personal welfare. Knowing the
adrenalin rush that comes when preparing for a parade -- and especially a
judged parade -- my guess is that Rebecca's cat encounter occurred during a
time she was supposed to be in control, and the director was objecting to the
breaking of ranks.
