I assume that you mean "airy" to be synonymous with 'breath-y' or
'hiss-y', as in South American flutes with large mouth holes --- not
synonymous with 'light' or 'ethereal'?

Several recent posts have referred to 'bad' sounds that were intended to
qualify as "dark" but were probably better described as mistakes in the
context of most music. I remember "dead", "dull", and "covered".

The truth is: even the worst squeak or squawk can fit in some particular
circumstances. But, as we continue to talk about 'dark', we **are**
beginning to narrow the meaning of the word a little bit.... which is a
good thing.
