Are you confusing your own personal reaction with physical truth?
In passing, I want to comment that somebody posted a year or so ago
about the Mendelssohn octet being 'happy' despite the minor key. When
I purchased a copy and listened to it myself, I had exactly the opposite
feeling, and my 'feeling' was quite strong.
But my purpose for this post is to call attention to the word
"physical". A personal reaction **is** a physical event, regardless of
whether other people have the same reaction or not.
Without meaning to speculate about what a person's 'soul' is, I suspect
that an adjective such as "universal" describes your point more exactly
??
I'm not arguing about a key's effect. I'm pointing out that equating
"physical" with "universal" is a dangerous leap that is more a statement
of faith than a defensible fact.
Cheers,
Bill
