Well, I assume you mean this is pretty good.

I have played R-13s for a long time, so I may be doing something
compensatory, but on balance this is the best in-tuned horn I have ever
owned. I think I have a good ear, and when I bought it, I didn't waste much
time in deciding.

I played these notes several times this morning.

I kinda smirked when I walked out of the store with the horn. At that point,
I didn't have a tuner (last May). All of these new gadgets and gizmos are
somewhat new to me (I've been living in a cave practicing), but I am glad
that my instincts seem to be borne out. I played about thirteen horns
looking for a spare to a vintage R-13 I have; not that horn is in its case
and I play this one most of the time (until I get a new barrel for that
one).

Mind you, these are average readings, as I am not capable of creating an air
column aka Harold Wright or you, most likely. The tone sounds quite solid to
be me, but the meter does not seem to always agree.

The clarion D does speak brightly, but since I play that note quite a bit in
my swing and Dixie jazz ensembles, I kinda like it. Plus the low G sounds so
solid and open that I am willing to live with this for the moment.

My other R-13's and my 1940's matched pair do not come close to this.
