Subj: [kl] Putty tuning

Because people here have discussed reducing the size of tone holes with
putty in order to correct intonation, I tried a bit of "putty tuning" on
my spherical bell tonight. It's bright orange putty. My daughter
wondered if I was decorating my clarinet for Halloween, but she observed
that "You're a little late, Dad, Halloween is over."

"Not while there's still some candy left!" I said as I swiped a Tootsie
Roll from her bag.

Anyway, now my tuner thinks that I've fixed the low F-natural; and to be
honest, it does sound a bit more 'lively' to my ear as well.
