Thanks for the idea. This *does* help for a moment (I just tried it),
but then my tuner returns to its 'confused' state if I hold a long tone.

I have noticed that, in this particular case, decreasing from 'mf' to
'pp' helps the tuner settle into a steady state. However, this doesn't
help me if I want to measure (as opposed to listen to) how my pitch
moves as I change loudness level.

I've begun to wonder if a musician with a 'purer' tone than myself would
receive more accurate measurements simply because his tone doesn't
contain as many stray 'non-harmonic' partials which perhaps are the
source of the tuner's confusion.
