I've asked this before, but perhaps an electronic guru is listening at
the moment?

Sometimes my tuner ($80 Seiko, not a $9.95 cheapie) appears to be
confused. This could be because my note is wobbling, but it could also
be because the tuner is not sorting out the various partials correctly.

Can anyone tell me, in layperson's language, how a decent tuner
identifies the fundamental of a tone and what aspect of a 'bad' note is
likely to confuse the tuner?
