Hello list,

At an orchestral concert tonight a bassoonist friend
described a condition that I wondered if any of you
have had any experience with. He's worried about
developing a palatal air leak at the back of the mouth
after several years of keeping his pitch up (to ever
rising orchestral levels) by constricting his throat.
He has adjusted his equipment to do this now but feels
that there has been enough long-term tension in his
throat that he wants to find a way to prevent any
deterioration. Any ideas? TIA,
