Have you tried softer reeds? Mouthpieces and facings take
different strength reeds, so if it seems stuffy with EVERY reed
you try, try a softer reed on that particular mouthpiece.

By the way, the M. Lurie reeds are SOFTER than V12s (usually by
a half to a whole size,) so if you liked them more, it is
probably because you are using the same number as the V12s, but
getting a softer reed. Try the V12s again, but go get a box a
half size smaller to see if it is a better fit.
