Denise,

I turn the screw one time extra to make it tight. I don't do
anything else special to keep the ligature on when switching. It
probably helps that I am using a Vandoren mouthpiece, which
probably is the outer dimensions of a mouthpiece the ligature
was designed for. If you have a smaller mouthpiece (on the
outside) you could probably put *double sided* tape (sticky on
both sides) on the top of the mouthpiece where the body of the
ligature touches the mouthpiece to give a little more grab.

I also make sure that the cork of the mouthpiece is well greased
with cork grease, and both barrels are greased well also. This
prevents a grab in the wrong direction from the barrel while
switching mouthpieces.

I know that my old Morgan mouthpiece was a good deal smaller
than other mouthpieces on the outside, and I had problems with
ALL ligatures on that mouthpiece.

You may have to find other ways to build up the mouthpiece from
the outside (multiple pieces of tape, hot glue, contact paper)
if the double sided tape doesn't work. I would say the most
important thing, though, is keeping the mouthpiece cork and the
inside of the barrel sockets well greased, and this will help a
great deal.
