Subj: [kl] performance nerves disaster
Date: Tue, 29 Oct 2002 20:51:49 -0500

I used to get awful performance nerves ; I was so worried that I might make
a mistake that I made many!! Which meant that next time I performed I would
be soo nervous about repeating the disaster , that my fingers would shake
too much to play, and of course a worse disaster would happen.
When I was 16 I got so nervous about a VERY IMPORTANT performance that I had
an anxiety attack on stage and my throat closed up - no sound, no air, just
squeeks came out until I fainted on stage in front of everyone.
The best thing about this disaster - I have never had stage fright since. No
nerves at all, Just a deep love of performance. The worst has happened and
it really didn't matter in the scheme of things, the earth did not stop
revolving, the sky did not cave in. (and no one remembers but my mum and I)

Play ; Enjoy! We musicians get the best seats in the house!
