Subj: [kl] kids do the strangest things...
Date: Tue, 29 Oct 2002 19:13:04 -0500

i just had to share this experience, kids do some unexpected things
sometimes ....

i just got back from giving a lesson to a student (middle school, thats
about age 12 or so)
new student - one i've never seen before

anyway, the student didnt swab the horn before putting it away. i looked at
the barrel, noticed water in the both joints.
i queried the student , and was informed the parts of the horn were washed
out periodically in warm water at night at home.

my my.
and yup, you guessed it, its a wood horn.

amazing suff.

anyway, i've no doubt i earned my meager private lesson fee tonight, and
redirected this effort.
i hope so anyway.
i wonder how long it will be before all the keywork freezes up with rust!
no cracks in the instrument body yet. the clarinet gods must be smiling on
this kid.

regards,
paul
