Subj: [kl] Almond oil on wood mouthpieces
Date: Tue, 29 Oct 2002 17:08:43 -0500

I have a lovely cocus wood mouthpiece, that I made from a Zinner blank. I haven't played it for awhile, because it seemed to have lost some of its "flair".

For a while now, I have been using Sweet Almond Oil to bathe older clarinets in when they are in the shop for rejuvination. I was demonatrating this to a client today, and I also showed him my wood mouthpiece.

Two pieces of information just clicked and I oiled the mouthpiece, especially the facing and the windway in the almond oil. (Nancy Buckman mentioned to me the other day that she oils her wood mouthpieces as well).

BINGO....mouthpiece sounded as good as ever. Maybe better.

Sweet Almond Oil can be purchased at GNC. A $7 bottle lasts forever.
