Hello, Jack. Without meaning to sound flippant, and strictly in my
opinion, the three most important things are:

(1) take some private lessons, because there are many different causes
of 'bad tone', if in fact you have bad tone right now, and you need an
experienced teacher to listen to you and identify which cause(s) apply
in your case

(2) practice

(3) practice some more
