Good advice.

All the throat holes, A G# and G are susceptible to this sort of
problem. But the G hole (the one under the A key), being quite small,
is particularly vulnerable to blockage, especially on older instruments.

Learning how to remove the keys to clean out this hole is a more
advanced exercise, but still one worth practising. (You have to take
out the rod screw on the top joint, and (usually) rehook the springs
afterwards.) But it's still only fiddly. Nothing apart from simple
mechanical manipulation is required.

A long-handled screwdriver helps a lot, as does a spring hook.

The main thing to avoid is the application of too much force, or the use
of a defective screwdriver. You can wind up tearing the slots on the
screwheads.

By the way, congratulations, Bill:-)
